BIKE DAY BY BAILEY EVANS.

Today my class are having a bike day.  But Helena did not bring one because she left the notice at school on Friday and her mum and her dad did not know that she needed her bike and Mrs D got a bit angry. We will be leaning about bikes at the end of the day. I think we will be doing it with Constable Ian Mckitrick. We might be using our bikes to do this I hope we do other wise it will be boring but if I do not have to and Constable Ian Mckitrick has my bike and I have to demonstrate how I got all of this safe stuff I will be deliterd to because that is just what I do.

Hunting with the Westys. By Johny

On Thursday morning me, Dad and my cousin Reid got up to go pig hunting in the Queen Charlotte Sounds. First we collared the best dogs up.Then we headed off. The day started of really bad. The dogs didn't get on to anything.
As the day went on it got better. The dogs chased a big deer. Later on we heard the dogs start yakking in the gully and Dad said,"Is that our dogs yakking in the gully?"  And I said," Yes".  Then the dogs started baling in a side gut. Me and Dad drove to a floating jetty. Dad said,"They have sunk him now." We got about 80 or 90 meters and it went quiet. Dad said "That has never happened." Then they had it again. The thing was that Reid broke the bail and the pig had charged Reid, and he climbed up a tree and was freaking out! By the time we got there the dogs and the pig came speeding past us. I was skidding down the hill and I went under  the pig and it showed its shiny sharp tusk at me. My dad stuck it with a sharp knife. It was 115lb.We were excitied and happy. A Nice Day for Art, by Jordan

Hi Jordan here.  I've been chosen for the art team. I can't wait to go. It's just so exciting! Four other children from Room 7 are doing it too. We are doing it with Mrs Cairns. I like doing rubbings of things with chalk or crayons, and I like sketching too. I really like sketching olden days stuff like old, soggy, wet, wooden houses. Art is fun because you can do anything, all sorts off things like making treasure maps. My map has Shark Tooth Island and Skull Island on it. There were dead mummies and trails, deadly fish, evil turtles and a submarine. We used coloured pencils, then we washed it over with cold coffee to make it look old. It's all art!

PAINT BALLING FOR MY AWSOME BIRTHDAY BY SAM

This Sunday me and 10 school friends are going paint balling for my ninth birthday. We are going to play at Armageddon Paintball Range which is up Redstone, which is just past Wakefield. It might be slightly raining but we play anyway because it won't bother us.

At paint balling I got shot under the chin, on the arm and lots of other places. It stung just for a little bit when it hit you. You have to wear a helmet and a vest. I shot a bird and it fall into the other arena. The other arena has old trucks and lots of other cool things and it is REALY BIG too.

PINK CLUTCH, by Sam

Next week or the week after my awesome dog  Cluch is going to dress up in a bright pink collar, a bright pink vest and a bright pink bag. He is doing it because the girl's black lab is sick. Cluch is going to go to two schools to help kids learn. We are going to get the girl to take photos of Cluch. I think Cluch is going to look really funny in a pink collar, pink vest and a pink bag. Cluch is going to the two schools in two days. The girl who is taking Cluch is going to take her other two dogs with pink Cluch.

When cluch goes to scool he gets fully gromed, he gets washed, he gets masaged and he also gets taken on BIG walks.I would love to be cluch and get masaged, fully gromed, get washed and taken on big walks by the children at scool.

Maddy was 6 years old and she was the oldest. Emma was 4 years old,(Almost five) she is the youngest. First we painted our raggy nails to perfect, sparkly new ones. Then we teamed up. I was with Emma. We did ballet together and she listened to my piano playing and danced to it. She was a very good one. Then it was time to go home.they hugged me and did as they were told. I was very sad when they went but it was still a lovely, sunny day!!!!

Red Deer Lodge By Harrison

On Saturday some of the amazing Brightwater Cubs and Scouts went on a trip to the fantastic Red Deer Lodge. In the Lodge there were deer heads hanging around the walls. Most of the chopped off deer heads were Red Deer and that's why its called Red Deer Lodge. There were also comfy chairs in front of the warm hot fire. The bedroom that I was in was right behind the fire so I had a warm sleep.

When it was night time we walked down to Lake Rotoiti and looked at the fascinating, fat, slimy eels in their awesome habitat. The eels got attracted by our bright, shining lights shining in the dark, black
water.
We spent the day jeo cashing- this is when you go onto a computer and you find the code which gives you ways to get to your destination. I found it really easy because one was hiding behind a grey, large rock by the exit of the DOC Office. It was hidden in a camouflage box!

WHAT AN AWESOME WEEKEND.

The camp was cool because we roasted marshmallows and went to our tents!  In our tents we had teddies and sleeping bags. My teddy was a buddy. My buddy was Kootje. Before we went to bed, we had carrot ice cream with the bunnies for dessert. We slept all night in our tent.
The next day we played outside and went for a swim in the wavy pool are fun. Kootje is the best and fluffy

Wave Rave, by Johny.

On the last week of the holidays me and Josh R went to the wave rave. First we got into our togs then we raced into the wavy water. Later on me and Josh saw the big bouncy castle. Me and Josh walked to the castle. We both made it. Then we went to the really warm spa. Later, after that, we got some really warm chips. We played tag in the lazy river. Josh and I went on surf board and we kept coming back because the waves were really strong and fast, so we went back to play tag. Then we got a lollipop.

Rugby Madness!!!! By Torin

In the nice, sunny weekend me and my team went to play rugby in Richmond. We were playing against Waimea Old Boys White. We are the Wanderers Gold team. The final score was 80 to15 to them. They are the hardest team in the competition. Every minute the Waimea team would score a try and then the score would go up higher!!! At half time we all got two lollies to keep our energy up, then half time was over and we played our hardest 30 minutes or so. In the second half I was just about to score a try when one of Waimea's boys tackled me and then I was on the ground for 3 minutes because a sprig went into my knee!

After the game I went home for two or 3 hours and then went up to our great, friendly grandad! When we were up at my grandad's house I saw my cousins and then we played my favourite game...MAN HUNT!!! I was the last survivor so I won!

In the weekend By Mitchell

In the weekend I went to my nan's and went to Smiggles and I got 2 rubbers, 1 pencil sharpener and 1 pencil. On Saturday I  went to my grandma's 60th birthday and she let me blow out the cake with her! I got 8 stars out of the cake and I played with my friend Ben and we played Rockstars and Uncle Nick turned the music up loud and we  made video clips. Ollie kept popping the balloons and he chased after me. I got to play on Aunty Alana's phone and play Scribble Pen. I had to guess what the pictures were and I lost. On the way back home I got a phume sucker and it was delicious.

Dirt Track Race, by Tane

On Saturday my family went to the Brightwater dirt track. My bike has red handlebars, a blue seat, and a yellow frame and pedals. It was a birthday present. Tawhiti's bike is a race bike with wide, expensive handlebars. Mum's bike is a big, greeny yellowy one. Ngatahi's bike is a policeman bike because it's got 111 written on it, and my dad's bike is just an ordinary blue bike.
We had a race against some other grown-ups and my cousins who were there, and I won! That's because my bike has the biggest wheels out of all of us and I'm really strong! I felt really happy.

In the weekend I went to hockey. First I got my gear on then I had shots at goal and in 30 minutes later Josh my coach that plays for NZ gave me my new hockey stick! It was black, white and blue. It was way better than my other shiny hockey stick. My other stick has a cracked bottom. Then we started practice first we did ball rush. Ball rush is when you skate across the rink and try not to get tagged by the taggers then we started playing. Jaxin was it. He tagged Lydia. Then we started the next round. Lydia tagged my brother Olli and Jaxin, then the game of ball rush was over.

Race Day By Amy

On sunny Saturday Dad drove to the  dirty forest to race against 20 or so other racers in his off-roader. There were classes too. In Dad's race, they had to do 17 laps of the dirty, stony track. Dad came 4th overall and first in his class.
After a big day out, Dad drove his off roader onto the trailer, and we cautiously drove home to get changed. Then we went to the pub in Brightwater and had tea and ice cream. Then they gave out trophies. My dad got a gold and green trophy that has a little man on top and we went home.

The Titanic's Sister Ships By Riley

In the weekend I found pieces of paper in an old school desk at home. They were about the Titanic and the Olympic, the Titanic's sister ship. The Titanic sank in 1912 because it hit an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean. A submarine has found has found the remains of it. It was split in half and they only found the front half. They found the locker of the Titanic and they bought it to the land and opened it. They were looking for a picture of Rose because she was one of the passengers. Jack, another passenger, drew the picture of her lying on the couch. They did find the picture in the locker.
The Britannic, another sister ship, sank in 1916, in the Mediterranean Sea when it hit a mine.

Kimi Ora Spa Resort By Sam

In the holidays me, Jordan, Mum and Dad went to Kimi Ora Spa Resort. Kimi Ora Spa Resort is in Kaiteriteri. At Kimi Ora there is a pool table, a foss ball table, a ping pong table, an inside heated pool, an outside cold pool, a spa, a steam room, a sauna and an adult sauna. On the track down to Kaiteriteri there are exercises you can do. The outside pool is freezing but I went under anyway! When I went under I got brain freeze. I ran into the heated pool. The second time I went under in the cold pool I ran to the spa and my feet were tingling and stinging. It was fun.

The color of them:  Rosie is brown and black, Rowdy Cloud is white and  gray,  and Rascal is the same as Rosie.

Pirate Hunting By the Tuis and Kiwis.

On Thursday we dressed up like dirty pirates and drove in cars to Mapua.
Room 7, 6 and 5 lined up to get on the ferry. When we hopped on the ferry we spotted Captain Blunderbus and went crazy.
When all of us got to the island, we set off for the treasure. Then we looked for clues. Captain Blunderbus said go East, and we found a wheel.
We walked through the forest and found a skull.
Next we went through the forest walking along going towards east. We crept a few steps and then again and again! Just then we found some of Captain Blunderbus's pieces of gold on the ground and we also found a canon ball. Then we found some games and a chest.
Inside the chest were drinks and biscuits. We played some games then we went on. We walked along the dusty forest road to find the treasure. That took very long and was very hard and tiring, so we got very thirsty and hungry.
Next Captain Blunderbus gave us the next clue with a code. It was a bit hard but we got it.
Soon then we went west to find the cannon behind the tree. Then we followed the clues down the track, and we got to the point were the  treasure was. We found a clue that said, go west.
We found an x and Tane dug it up. Captain Blunderbus  threw a key but the key was too big. So he threw another key and Hamish caught the key.
The key opened the treasure chest and inside it there were crunchies and chocolate coins! Everybody dug in.
After that Mrs Duncan blew the whistle and we all walked back to the ferry and climbed aboard.
It was a fun, fantastic, adventurous, scally

wag pirate assignment!!!!

In the treasure chest he had his telescope, a compass, sword, an hourglass, gun powder and a treasure map that he left behind.

Great white shark By Callum

My dad's friend caught a GREAT WHITE SHARK  but it was only a small fellow but then he hooked the big one on his hook. Then his fishing rod and his line went in too.
I caught an 8lb snapper at Karamea with my friend Kase. I caught it off the beach and we got stuck in the drift car. Then we had to get my Dad's  Toyota to hook up a wire rope but it still didn't get it out. We ended up getting the tractor to roll it out. I filleted the fish with my pocket knife. Jacko got 3 hooks stuck in 3 fingers.
We also went white baiting and we caught some. We made white bait patties. Dad smoked the fish because he had a cooker in the back of his Toyota.

Hiwi the Kiwi By Jordan

The Minstrel read us safety questions. Mrs Minstrel danced and gave out posters and stickers. The Minstrel sang songs about sea food.

Hiwi the Kiwi By Jack

Yesterday I went to a show. It was called Hiwi the Kiwi. The people that were performing were called Mr Minstrel and Mrs Minstrel and Mr Minstrel likes singing and asking questions. If you get stuck on a boat you shoot a flare and if you get a question right you get a poster or a sticker or something else. If you catch a mother fish put it back because the mother will have babies and more people will catch more fish. When you're on a boat you have to wear a life jacket and also take a ruler. If you take fish that is too big or small the police will get you.

Mr Ellis's Flour Mill and Power Station By Bailey

Mr Ellis had a flax mill and a brick place in Brightwater. He had a fantastic idea one day and made a thing in a chicken coop with a piece of wood and made some  electricity for the town. The chickens hopped  on a piece of wood at night and make electricity. There were 5 street lights that would go at night and in the morning when the chickens got off the piece of wood the lights would torn off so Mr Ellis did not  have to do it by him self. Mr Ellis was a very clever man because he made electricity witch was great for the town.

I enjoyed learning about  Early Brightwater because there was alot of stuff to enjoy. By Bailey E
