What an Awesome Holiday By Keri

In the amazing Holidays, My Family and I Drove in the muddy white truck slowly to Ashburton then we jump out of the truck with excitement. " Let's go play on that awesome playground,'' said Keri. So we had a play and then hopped back into the truck . That was all because soon there was, zzzzzzzzzzz! Yes, I was sleeping. Wow, what a huge sleep. As soon as I woke up we were there. I wandered inside the little cottage to see what it was like. We were told not to look at any of the pictures so it would be a surprise. Well from then on we were told to have another sleep so we would be happy when we go skiing tomorrow . On Friday we woke up, got our ski suits on and waited for everybody to get ready. Off we go. Yay. We got out of the car and we slowly walked over all the ice in the carpark. We got there at 9 o' clock and that's when the ski field opens. There were about 20 cars there. They were all four wheel drives. We had already got our boots fitted and we waited over by the ski school and our instructor today is called Anne. She is from England. We practiced turning, left and right. From then on we walked over to the BIGGEST T BAR IN NEW ZEALAND. We were allowed to go strait to the front of the line to go on the tow. when we were half way up the tow we were told to ski to the right and snow plow and wait for the others. when we were coming down we went over the jumps they were huge.from then on we were allowed to go and ski on our own . Leigh and I went back to Mum and Dad. I was puffed and didn't want to do any more so I stayed in the car from then on the end.

I like to play games

Every play time at school I like to play with my friends. I like to play Soccer , Rugby and Hide and Seek.

When I play hide and seek I lock my self in the bathroom. I creep around every time. I get scared some times. I climb in my bed room wardrobe on the shelves with circles in them.

When you play rugby sometimes you have to twist pass and you need to have team members and you skid. You run super fast because you try to get a try. You kick because you try and get the ball over the post.

When you play soccer you need to get a clever pass , a great kick and sneaky goal. Because you gotta go hard or go home and have heaps of skills.

Weaving

Room 7 have used flax, wool, material and many other different things to create wall hangings by weaving. The different colours and textures in our weavings were interesting and we all thought they were fantasic. We have each chosen to gift our artworks to someone special.

Our Special Visitor By Keri

Yesterday Robyn Belton came to Room 12. She came to talk to us about her artwork.
Robyn Belton illustrated a lot of books, like Brave Sea Dog, Duck and the Gun, and she has also illustrated the Greedy Cat Series.
Robyn Belton got to be an illustrator by drawing nearly every day and doing lots of research. She did about 100 scribbly pictures of what she was doing and then she would do the pictures. To know what to draw the author wrote at the top of the square.
It took about a year to get A Duck in a Gun published.

Robyn Belton's Visit

Oh I wish I was Robyn Belton because I LOVE drawing. Oh, did I mention Robyn is an illustrator and that is drawing? So I am going to tell you what happened. It all started at Brightwater Scool in Room 12. I was scared because I did not know what she looked like but I needed to overcome it so I went with my friends. By Harriet.

Robyn Belton's Visit

On Wednesday at Brightwater School, Robyn Belton came to visit. Brightwater School was so excited. Each Syndicate met her in Room 12. Robyn Belton is a spectacular illustrator and author.

The Best Weekend By Serina

During the Weekend my family went to the Warehouse so I could spend my $20 gift card. I spent my gift card on Littlest Pet Shops. My Mum bought a cricket set so we could take it camping in Pohara. After that we went to Macdonalds, I had a six nugget happy meal with a medium lemonade. Then we went to the Tahuna Park. I climbed the whale. It was very steep. I went on the Merry-go-Round. After I got off I felt as dizzy as a spinning top. I went down the rocket slide. I burnt feet with the extremely hot metal. Then we went home and played cricket. I was getting hot so I asked Dad if we could go and get an ice-block and he said yes.

The March. By Peta

In the weekend Peta Mills went to the March Against Mining at the start of Trafalger Street all the way to the end of Trafalger Street. Peta went with her best friend Tui. Tui was staying the night at Peta's house and Peta's mum was there as well and Tui's mum, dad, sister and brother were with us. As we were about to start Marching everybody held up the signs they bought with them. Peta took a sign saying "This land is mine and I say NO!"

Anzac Service at the Brightwater Gates! By Keri

On Sunday morning Keri and her family walked down to the gates where the Anzac Service was. When we were down there we noticed that we were the first people to arrive. Mr Dobbie asked me and my sister Leigh could put a wreath down against the gate. When it came to that part we didn't do it. Amy and Connor Berkett did it. They also had a bugle playing a tune. When the tall man played the bugle they got the Man to play it beside the Brightwater Hall. It was loud enough for me when it was playing back beside the hall. Mr Dobbie showed a picture of some people in his family that went to war. The scouts and the cubs were there holding green flags that had a different symbol on each flag. Anzac stands for : Australia New Zealand Army Corps. After that it was the end SO,... we started to walk extremely slowly back home!

The best holidays By Amy

Yes no School! Finally I can do what ever I want. Oh I just remembered I'm going to a play called Into the Woods on Saturday. I can't wait to go. I wonder what else I'm going to do. I might go to the movies or maybe go to another play. "Amy breakfast time." "Coming ." After breakfast I watched some TV and got dressed. Then I listened to my music and annoyed my brother. A few days later I went to Into the Woods with my Mum, Logan and Harriet. After the show we went to McDonalds.
Mum and my Auntie organised a sleepover at her place on Monday. On Tuseday we had Burger King. It was much better than McDonalds!!!

Saving a Duck By Jesse

In the holidays I went to Natureland. My mum and sister came with me. I saw some pigeons, Kea,
meercats, and lots of ducks. One duck had a broken leg... then I saw a pukeko. It scratched the weak duck. I ran up to a staff person. He came to look at the weak duck. He put the weak duck in the fixing room. We got 20$ dollars each for saving the duck. After that we went home. I had a lot of fun at Natureland. I felt great about saving the duck- and the money was great because we didn't have lots.

My Holidays By Joe

In the holidays I went to the Aquatic Center with my dad and two brothers. First we went in the wave pool. I got to get a body board. I got really high when the wave came. When I got to the deep end I swam to the very bottom. When we were getting bored we went to the lazy river. At the lazy river I went on my back and floated all the way round. I was on my way to the big pool. When I got there I ran and ran and did a canon ball in the water. I was having a lot of fun when my dad said we've got to go, but I said can I please do one more thing. And I did a big dive in to the pool. I had a lot of fun at the Aquatic Center.

Holidays By Liam

In my holidays my Grandad shifted to our old house. Before the holidays we shifted to Bridge Valley under the Camp. It is half an acre with bush. It is hard to find people. In the willow tree we are going to build a swing with a wooden seat and a rope to hang it up. The best thing about living in Bridge Valley is the room we have to play in.

Buoyancy Day at Wakefield Pool By Shania

Buoyancy day at Wake field School Pool. On Wednesday the 3rd of March we went to the Wake field School Pool. We went with the Middle Syndicate. The teachers and parents drove us there. We practiced our buoyancy with objects. We needed a lager and deeper pool. We used life jackets. When we had the balls we had to try to stand on our feet. We had to float with the noodles.

Swimming With Our Clothes On By Yasmine

We were learning to see how buoyant we were in the water when we had our clother on and togs on underneath .We jumped in the pool pretending to fall out of a boat . I had trouble kicking with my shoes on. When I had my clothes on it felt very awkward . I didn't get dragged along. I had so much fun.

Swmming with our clothes on By Serina

We were learning to see how well we would float with togs and old clothes on. We were trying to demonstrate what it was like to fall out of a boat. It was very easy to float on my back and tummy. It was the best swim ever !!

Baby Chickens

On the first day of school three out of four chickens hatched. They are a pale yellow colour and very soft. Now the feathers are developing on the tail. The wings gave got proper baby feathers in one week. We think two are boys and one is a girl. We are hoping my uncle can take the boy chickens (if there are any) down to Barrytown. The type that she got is a white sussex. You can just see their combs. They are pale orange and spikey. Franky the Mum who only incubated the eggs kept making BIG holes in the ground that the chicks can play in. Every day we give the chickens a cuddle to keep them tame and friendly so we can play with them. When it rains Franky sits on them to keep them warm.
