one egg
water
salt
a tall drinking glass
What you do-
* Pour the water into the glass until it is half full.
*Stir in lots of salt ( between 306 tablespoons)
*Put the egg in
IT FLOATED!!!!
What we think happened-
Madeline thought- The salt could be holding the egg up.
Lily thought- In fresh water algea sinks to the bottom and in salt water in floats to the top.
Anya thought- Salt goes to the bottom and pushes the egg up.
Jayden thought- Salt is rotting the egg and makes it lighter.
Oliver thought- Salt stays in the same place so the water goes higher.
Nikita thought- Water doesn't have anything to push it up, salt helps to push it up.
Hannah thought- The salt makes the water heavier so the egg floats up.
What we found out -
Jada and Breanna found out that eggs don't float in fresh water because it doesn't have enough density to keep the egg up.
I wonder-
Does it work with sugar instead of salt?
